Sea hares feed in the seagrass at Town Beach on the shores of Roebuck Bay. The hares are large marine gastropods with a soft internal shell made of protein. The name Sea Hare derives from their rounded shape and the two rhinophores, extremely sensitive chemical receptors, that extend from their heads and are remeniscent of the ears of a hare. The hares exude a purple dye when under stress.
