Birds - Kimberley

153 images Created 16 Apr 2010

The Kimberley is a bird-watcher's heaven, and home to over 300 bird species including the beautiful and threatened Gouldian Finch, the Purple-crowned Fairy Wren and the colourful Rainbow Bee-eater.

Two island groups off the Kimberley coast, Adele Island and the Lacepede Islands are important bird rookeries and nesting sites, and the shores of Roebuck Bay are a world class migratory bird destination, with thousands of birds arriving each wet season from Asia and Siberia.
